The film “Detective Chinatown 3” will be released in theaters in Japan on July 9.
Detective Chinatown 3, directed by Chen Sicheng, is an entertaining detective film full of mystery, action, and comedy. It will open in theaters nationwide in Japan on July 9.
This is the third film in the series, with the first film set in Thailand and the second in New York.
In addition to Chinese stars Wang Baoqiang and Liu Haoran, the Japanese cast includes Satoshi Tsumabuki, Tomokazu Miura, Masami Nagasawa, Shota Sometani, Honami Suzuki, Tadanobu Asano, and famous Asian action actor Tony Jaa.
Filmed in Japan in 2019, the film was successfully shot in many previously unauthorized locations.
It was filmed at Shibuya’s Scramble Crossing (open set), a sacred 2-D location Akihabara, Shinjuku Kabuki-cho, Tokyo Tower, and Ryu-Q-Kan, and has received generous support from the Japanese government and local administration.

TEAM JOY CO., LTD., Japan-China Cultural Industry Exchange Association (JCCIEA), and C-C ENTERTAINMENT, participated in the film’s production in Japan, playing key roles in pre-production, filming, and location negotiations.
Satoshi Tsumabuki, Tomokazu Miura, Honami Suzuki, and Tadanobu Asano participated in the event just before the screening and enthusiastically talked about the side stories during the shooting.
The subtitled and dubbed versions of the movie were released simultaneously, with Takeshi Maeda, Hiroshi Kamiya, and Daisuke Namikawa playing the dubbed roles of the foreign detectives.
